Gunite pools tend to be extremely stable — after all, they’re made out of concrete! Remodeling for gunite pools is usually for resurfacing of the waterproofing that covers the concrete or to repair cracks that have formed in the concrete. Also, since gunite does last a very long time, many Sacramento and Northern California backyards have gunite pools that could use some updating or plumbing replacement. Victors Pools has the team and the experience to handle all of your gunite pool remodeling projects.
Resurfacing Gunite Pools
Depending on the quality of materials and maintenance of the pool, the “plaster” finish that waterproofs a gunite pool will need to be replaced every ten or more years. Pool resurfacing can be done with different colors, additives and the inclusion of tile to create a very attractive swimming pool. If you want a pool that defines the beauty of your Sacramento backyard, talk to the resurfacing professionals at Victors Pools.
Repairing Gunite Cracks
Earth movement can cause concrete to crack. While it is not a common problem (most “cracks” in concrete pools are really just in the plaster and may or may not affect the waterproofing), it is definitely a problem that needs to be repaired. Cracks left unfixed only do one thing — get bigger! Handling the problem immediately is the key to maintaining the condition of your swimming pool and keeping your family happy with their backyard recreation area. Victors Pools has the needed experience to repair the cracks as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Replacing the Plumbing
Soil shift or just plain age gets to any plumbing installation over time. Breaking up concrete and digging in the dirt to reveal the problem is a hit or miss project without the proper expertise. Victors Pools has the ability, the equipment and the materials to make your older swimming pool plumbing into an example of energy and water efficiency. A Note of Caution
Emptying a concrete pool without professional assistance should never be attempted! If sufficient groundwater is present, the water will actually float the empty pool. The weight of the water and design of the pool should keep any concrete pool in place, but remove the water and you may be extremely surprised to see your pool lift up and become above ground instead of in-ground. The professionals at Victors Pools know how to empty your pool safely, so contact us for any repairs that call for emptying your pool.
